Day #1 of quarantine was a success, since we celebrated St. Patrick’s Day and all. Now let’s see what else has happened since…
Día #1 de cuarentena fue un éxito, porque celebramos el día de San Patricio. Ahora vamos a ver qué ha pasado después de ese momento…
Day #2 : When we got up, it was time to seize the day but this time in a slightly different way. Morning exercises in the living room, mopping and sweeping, homework, music making… All of these things took up our time and before we knew it, our day was done.
Día #2 : Cuando nos levantamos, era hora de aprovechar el día pero esta vez de una forma diferente. Ejercicios por la mañana en la sala, barriendo y trapeando la casa, tarea, haciendo música… Todas estas cosas ocuparon nuestro tiempo y así pasamos todo el día.
Hice un cronograma con la ayuda de Mamá y ¡ahora lo sabemos seguir! (Más o menos…)

Day #3 : Since we’re a pretty antsy bunch, we’re used to spending our time outside so we make do with what we have. Downstairs, we play soccer and volleyball until the sun goes down and we go up to the terrace to get our Vitamin D.
Día #3 : Como somos un grupo de personas activas, estamos acostumbrados a pasar nuestro tiempo afuera entonces hacemos lo que podemos con lo que tenemos. Abajo, jugamos fútbol y voley hasta que se oscurece y nos subimos a la terraza para recibir nuestra Vitamina D.

This photo has an explanation, I swear. Most of the small neighborhood stores aren’t making bread so Father decided to make some himself. Sole and Diego helped and so this is their newborn, Loaf.
Esta foto si tiene una explicación, te lo juro. La mayoría de las tiendas del vecindario no están haciendo pan entonces Papá decidió hacerlo. Sole y Diego ayudaron y este es su hijito, Hogaza.

Day #4 : I have taken up watercolor painting again and I now obsessively organize crayons for projects like these.
In the evening, we played spoons and poker and drank dulce de zapallo (a hot drink made out of milk and pumpkin).
Día #4 : Empecé a pintar con pinturas de acuarela de nuevo y ahora organizó crayones obsesivamente para proyectos como este.
En la tarde, jugamos spoons y poker y tomamos dulce de zapallo.
Estaba aburrida.

Day #5 : I don’t recall much happening this day except for a family get together and visiting the kittens.
No me acuerdo que no más hicimos este día pero sí nos unimos en familia y visité los gatitos.
Son muy animados y ahora se están haciendo más grandes.

Day #6 : Most days we have gone up to the terrace to eat breakfast after exercising and this morning was bright and beautiful. You could hear the birds (for once) and everything was calm.
Día #6 : La mayoría de los días nos subimos a la terraza a desayunar después de hacer ejercicio y esta mañana fue muy bonita y brillante. Podías escuchar los pájaros (por fin) y todo estaba tranquilo.

It was time for Cupcake and Muffin Wars: Quarantine-in-Ecuador Edition! We were split up into four teams and given until six to bake. I worked with Gabriel and we made Double Coffee Cake Muffins while Kelpi made Super Lemony Cupcakes. (We couldn’t agree on one recipe so we did two.)
¡Era hora de Guerra de Pastelitos y Muffins: Edición Cuarentena-en-Ecuador! Nos dividimos en cuatro equipos y teníamos hasta las seis para hornear. Yo trabajé con Gabriel e hicimos muffins de café mientras Kelpi hizo pastelitos de limón. (No podíamos elegir una receta entonces hicimos dos.)
The judges panel consisted of Abuelita, Abuelito, and Father and they had quite a few recipes to try. After delivering the scores and calculating everything, the winners were announced. Sole, Diego, and Memo had won! These were their cupcakes: carrot with vanilla frosting garnished with candied lemon and chocolate and topped with a mint leaf.
Los jueces eran Abuelita, Abuelito, y Papá y tenían que probar muchas recetas. Después de dar sus calificaciones y calcular los resultados, anunciaron los ganadores. ¡Sole, Diego, y Memo eran los ganadores! Estos eran sus pastelitos: zanahoria con cubierto de vainilla adornada con limón caramelizado y chocolate y una hoja de menta.
After the applause died down, the judges handed over the prize to the winning team: three rolls of toilet paper.
Después de que acabamos de aplaudir, los jueces entregaron el premio del equipo ganador: tres rollos de papel higiénico.
We drank tea with our cupcakes and muffins, happily settling into a nice, calm evening. Kind of. We then proceeded to have a dance party downstairs at Sole’s and did the “Waves of Tory” ceili dance. (I also happened to discover “Siberian cats” on Youtube and if anyone wants to destress, I recommend this video.)
Tomamos té con nuestros pastelitos y muffins, pasando el resto de la tarde felices y tranquilos. Más o menos. Después hicimos fiesta abajo donde la Sole y bailamos las “Olas de Tory,” un baile de ceili. (También descubrí “gatos siberianos” en Youtube y si alguien quiere desestresarse, les recomiendo este video.)

Day #7 : Just another day in paradise… Something very wholesome happened today and I want you guys to be able to join in on it too. One of my all time favorite bands, We Banjo 3, are doing live streams at 12 PM (CT) on Instagram and Facebook, Monday through Friday and Saturday at 8 PM (CT). We watched band member Martin’s livestream and he played a little bit of mandolin, read poetry, and answered questions. He even answered some of our questions and played a tune that we requested! All in all, a very wholesome live and I would definitely recommend that you check the rest of them out.
Día #7 : Otro día en el paraíso… Algo muy bonito paso hoy y quiero que todos sepan que es para que también lo disfruten. Uno de mis grupos favoritos, We Banjo 3, están haciendo transmisiones directos a las 12 PM (CT) en Instagram y Facebook, lunes a viernes y sábado a las 8 PM (CT). Vimos uno del miembro Martín y tocó un poco de mandolín, leó poesía, y respondió a preguntas. ¡Hasta nos dió una respuesta a nuestras preguntas y tocó una canción que pedimos! En resumen, una transmisión muy buena y recomiendo que todos las ven también.

I really enjoyed reading your first week of quarantine. It is cheerful and it doesn’t give us the sense of panic the media is portraying. I have been writing a daily blog about it but Now that I read yours, I like yours better! Thank you!

It seems like your family is making the most of a crappy situation. I LOVE your adult coloring– it looks great. I bought a cross-stitch kit for my quarantine boredom and have learned many other shapes/sizes of the Rubik’s Cube.
And I LOAF the loaf 🙂
PS- I would have voted for the lemon cupcakes.
